Sacraments in the Armenian Church
Baptisms and Chrismations
All Baptisms must be scheduled at least two months in advance by call the church office and speaking to Fr. Haroutiun.
It is preferred that the parents, and not other members of the family make these important arrangements.
According to the Armenian Church canons, a Baptism may only be performed once in a person's lifetime, provided such a Baptism was been performed in a Christian Church and in the name of the Holy Spirit.
At least one of the godparents must be a member of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Church.
Weddings
Those desiring marriage in our Sanctuary should contact our Pastor at least 8 months in advance. All weddings must follow the Canons of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Church and the laws of the State of Connecticut. Weddings cannot be performed during Great Lent or Holy Week, or on the five major feast days of the Armenian Church; Armenian Christmas, Easter, Feast of the Transfiguration, Feast of the Assumption of the Holy Mother of God, and Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. The couple must meet at least once with our Pastor.
Funerals
Families should make arrangements with the funeral director of their choice. When making arrangements, the Pastor needs to be present with family and funeral director to review all facets of planning. Funerals may not be performed on religious holidays, major feast days, Saturdays after 3:00 p.m., or on Sundays.
Please note: In accordance with Diocesan discipline mandated by the Primate, all Sacraments must be performed in the church Sanctuary.
